Justin Heideman, Big Wall of Thanks
The Big Wall of Thanks is a large-scale projection of images of people who donate–before and during the festival–to support Northern Spark.
Festival-goers will encounter the Big Wall of Thanks as they enter the Waiting Room at Union Depot. Large projections will fill two ceiling panels in the grand Waiting Room with the images of people who have given to support Northern Spark. You can rest on comfy couches and observe the faces of your friends, neighbors and fellow art-lovers who have helped to create this magical night. And if you’d like to join them up there, volunteers will be on hand to take your donation and snap your picture for the wall. Using software developed by Justin Heideman for his project Big Red Party Button, your photo will be added instantly into the projection.
The Big Wall of thanks is designed to make visible the generosity that surrounds us. Northern Spark is a product of many gifts–time, vision, energy, work and material resources. The Big Wall of Thanks celebrates the people who help make Northern Spark happen but who would otherwise go unseen among us, even as we benefit so greatly from their gifts.
