What do we want?
Better protest art!
When we we want it?
Now!
As artists and activists, it’s time to up our game as we take to the streets to build the climate-just world we want and everyone needs. With Northern Spark 2017 partner and climate activists MN350.org, spend an afternoon painting banners and learning techniques to maximize your visual presence in public space. Turn texts into a gigantic banner using Piotr Szyhalski’s large printing apparatus or punch small into wearable buttons. This workshop is designed to both give an introduction to different methods of making a visual impact and well as provide space and (some) supplies for building, messaging, experimenting and making.
Supplies provided:
Fabric
Canvas
Cardboard
Paint
Brushes
Button-maker parts
Supplies to bring:
Printed materials to turn into buttons using the Northern Spark button-maker.
Specs: printed images 1.5 inches square
AAA: Anthropocene Awareness Association, a sometimes club, sometimes support group, always happy hour to discuss issues related to the core ideas of the Northern Spark festival’s year-long theme: Climate Chaos | Climate Rising.
