Northern Lights.mn recognizes that equity work is long and continuous and that progress doesn’t happen in isolation. With this understanding, we work with community members to evolve our organizational practices toward equity.
The Artist Council is a rotating cohort of artists that grow, learn, and serve together. They work with Northern Lights staff and Community Partners to set the stage for the Northern Spark festival each year. This work ranges from creating the annual theme to jurying and curating artists and inviting Community Partners into the planning process. The Artist Council helps envision practices that realize our shared values.
These values, roles, and processes are outlines in a living document collectively authored by the 2020 Council called Relationships & Reciprocity: A Guide To Making Northern Spark. Read it in full here.
