Northern Lights.mn seeks performers for Ruination: City of Dust, an interactive, site-specific game produced with the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District and game designer WriterGuy Ken Eklund, and in partnership with the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board.

About the Game

Ruination: City of Dust is a multiplayer game using the landscape as a game board. Contemporary environmental science informs the sci-fi narrative, while elements of art intertwine with physical and mental challenges. Using bicycles as transportation, players will travel to specific points around Lake Nokomis, Hiawatha and Minnehaha Creek to discover clues and compete for answers. A reward awaits at the Central Hub where the mystery is revealed. This game is designed for players ages 18 – 35 yrs old.

Performer Needs
We are seeking fearless, friendly, creative, engaging performers with a variety of experience including storytelling, improvisation, participatory art and movement work. As this is an interactive game (not a play), performers should be comfortable with repeating the same short script/activity multiple times throughout the day.

We have opportunities for Storytellers at outdoor stations along the game board and Human Statues at the indoor Hub location.

All performers will be compensated for their time.

Commitment:

3 Orientation Sessions/Rehearsals (TBD, in early October)
2 Game Dates: Saturday and Sunday, October 18 & 19, 2014 (within a 9am-6pm timeframe; specific hours will depend on role)

Sign me up!

If you’re interested and available, please send these materials to ady@northern.lights.mn:

  • short resume or bio that indicates relevant performance work
  • a few sentences indicating why you are interested in this game (and which type of performance role you seek, if you have a preference)

We will be holding a meeting for interested performers on Monday, September 8 at 7:30pm at Minneapolis Central Library in conference room N-402. Attendance at this meeting is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged for consideration. We will have a draft script available for you to review.
