Nicollet Mall Light Walk Parameters and Opportunities

The Light Walk is a unique 2-block installation designed by James Corner Field Operations on the east side of Nicollet Center, the heart of pedestrian and retail activity between 6th and 8th streets. The installation is made up of a series c-shaped armatures with mirrored fins and color programmable LED lighting that creates a corridor of light and movement, allowing people to see themselves from the skyways above and the street below.

The Nicollet Mall Archway Lighting control system handles three of the fixture types on the Mall. This call is for the Type TE fixtures mounted into the light walk armatures between 6th Street and 8th Street.  All fixtures have RGB emitters and are individually controllable via DMX with nine address footprint per fixture (three on each side).  The DMX signal is transmitted over two universes for the Type TE fixtures.  The system is run by an ETC Mosaic Controller .  The Mosaic controller is programmed with Mosaic Designer 2 software suite. This is a free program to download from ETC’s website.
